TO ALL APPLICANTS & MEMBERS OF THIS MESSAGE BOARD:
IT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO READ & REMEMBER ALL OF THE RULES.


This message board is solely for technical questions and answers for Independent Trading Locksmiths and Safe Engineers/Technicians.
It is with the goodwill of experienced locksmiths known as The Team, which will enable locksmiths to improve their knowledge.
Terms of Membership to this Message Board and Acceptance of Terms of Use [and any Amendments, which may be amended with or without informing you, at any future date].
By accepting these agreement terms you agree to abide by the following terms each and every time that you access this website:

The Criteria Required for Membership is:

i] An applicant for membership to COLTi, must give proof that he or she is an Independent Locksmith, and have been an active locksmith for a minimum of 6 months. [Or Qualified Master Locksmiths/Journeymen and Safe Technicians]

i.a] Any Independent Trading Locksmith [whose main occupation is Locksmithing and has been an active locksmith for a minimum of 6 months] is free to apply to be a user of the COLTi message board. [all details of other occupations should be given]

i.b] A Locksmith not tied in contract with a Franchise.
[Franchise Networks have their own tuition & support for training and guiding their own locksmiths, therefore they have no need of COLTi]

i.c] Ref: A locksmith actively involved with Hobby/Enthusiast Lock Picking or the Hacking of security systems.
Any member who is found to be connected to any group such as Sports-pickers/Hobbyist/Enthusiast Lock Picking or Lock Hacking, such groups are not considered to be in the interests of the security of the general public and would therefore belittle the integrity of trading locksmiths, therefore will not be accepted as a member of COLTi, any member who has since they joined COLTi, then have become involved with such groups, may be asked to leave.

i.d] Anyone giving false information about their Locksmithing credentials, will be removed from the forum.

Or

ii] If you work for a Trading Locksmith [and have been actively working as a locksmith for a minimum of 6 months], please ask your employer to provide a letter of recommendation which will have all the trading details relating to your firm, stating that you are in full time employment as a locksmith.
A person employed as a Locksmith, to do lock repairs, key cutting and emergency open ups, may apply for membership, providing a letter from the employer accompanies the application.

Or

iii] Those people who are no longer Trading Locksmiths e.g.: Locksmith’s retired, disabled or otherwise unable to carry on in the Locksmithing trade may be able to join at the discretion of the Team.

iv] All members are expected to make at least one posting per quarter year, if not, they will be considered to be inactive and maybe asked to re-register, this is to encourage all members to be active.

v] Agree to provide truthful information, including your:
Please enter your FULL NAME ie: Joe Smith, not 'smithj' etc.
[No pseudonyms are allowed on this message board]
Registration does have to be presented before voting will commence.
To be a minimum of eighteen years of age ( 18 ) or older.
When registering, you must agree and abide to our Terms of Membership and Use.

1 x copy of letter headed correspondence paper showing your Locksmith Trading details.
2 x copies of 2 different Locksmith Suppliers Invoices showing locks, keys & parts commonly required by trading locksmiths.
1 x copy of invoice from advertising ref your advertising as a Trading Locksmith, ie: Yellow Pages etc

NOTE: Once documents have been provided and checked the 'applicant' details are presented to the Team in the New Users Area for the Team of Advisors/Moderators to review & vote.
After a successful vote an email will be sent to the applicant telling him/her that permissions have been granted for access.
The application may take up to 10 days to be thoroughly investigated.
Then when all is OK the applicants’ access could be granted.
An unsuccessful applicant will be notified by email, no reason will be given other than his/her request for membership has been denied at that moment in time.

Voting In A New Applicant
Voting is done only by the Team and Admin.


After Registration, he/she will have NO access to the site, and will NOT; until the Proofs have been returned & checked and, until that applicant's request for membership is be put to the Team for voting and, until a successful majority vote has been cast.

We post each applicant's status with all the [completed] details required on a week to week basis to the Team.

A majority vote, will decide registration/membership.

An applicant may NOT re-apply for membership within 3 months.

COLTi RULES
Please keep in mind that if you break the rules, instant removal of membership / being expelled without forewarning / notice will follow.
Breaking the Rules will not be tolerated


RULE 1
Password.
You are responsible for your password. The passing of ‘access’ details [logging on] to third parties will not be tolerated. You agree to notify us immediately of any misuse, or unauthorized use or your registration/password.

RULE 2
Your Conduct.
All posts are the responsibility of the person making that post. We shall not be responsible in any way for the Content, nor any error or omissions that may appear on this web site.

You explicitly agree, in using this web site or any information provided, that you shall :

i] NOT Use the information for any illegal purposes, nor conduct yourself in an offensive manner. Most importantly, show no disrespect; use no bad language, to any person on this message board. [Bad language is not acceptable as 'normal modern day use of the English language' on a technical forum.]

ii] Under NO circumstances are you to disrespect manufacturers, toolmakers or suppliers.

iii] Agree NOT to circulate/pass on personal or technical information [there should be no circulated copies of internal matters for passing on] or posts made by other users without written permission. Not to manufacture tools for financial gain without the permission of a) the Team, b] the supplier/suppliers of the said information as posted on the forum.

iv] NOT use/misuse information on this message board/website, which may be copied for the purpose of junk mailing, spamming, writing chain or hate mail letters, pyramid schemes, or any other form of unauthorised advertising.

v] NOT use/misuse information or post on this message board/website anything which may cause us, as the new community of COLTi, any embarrassment or lead to civil or criminal liability which may have been caused by unauthorized use relating to copyright, design right, trademark, patent etc. You will be held responsible for your actions.

RULE 3
Posts.
By providing any Content to our web site:

i] NOTE: all posts as far as possible should be of a technical nature, non-technical communications should be made via pm’s or email.

ii] NOTE: all posts should not contain anything illegal, obscene, disrespectful or immoral. Double meanings of a sexual nature should not be used either.

iii] NOTE: each question or answer should be original to the poster/member. Do not copy other people’s work onto this site, if you need to use someone else’s work for making a point, please use a link to allow full recognition for that other person. Please do not ‘double forum post’, in other words, post the same post on separate forums.

iv] By becoming a member of this message board community, a member has agreed to also share their knowledge too, that means that each member should make a technical post/article at least once in every every 3 months. This is a FREE website and it can only survive if members pull their weight. If any member does not make a single valued post, their membership will be called into question. If a member fails to fulfill the above, their membership will automatically become 'in-active'.

v] We are advising all members that they grant a non-exclusive permanent right for any posts / images which they have posted on the site and that such posts will not be removed or edited, unless the post or image has contravened the COLTi ethos.

RULE 4
Privacy Policy.
Registration data and other personally identifiable information that we may collect will be kept strictly private. By becoming a member of this community, you agree to abide by it's strict code of conduct.

RULE 5
Advertising.
Under no circumstances will advertising or press releasing be permitted, other than as Up-dates within the Tabloid, or as Technical Reviews, with full agreement by Admin or the Team.

RULE 6
Our Service.
Our web site and services are provided to you on an "AS IS" basis. You agree that, we exclusively reserve the right, and may, at any time and without informing you, and any liability to you, delete any data [temporarily or permanently], discontinue or modify this web site/message board and services. We shall have no responsibility or liability for the deletion, failure to upload or store, any inaccuracy, or improper delivery of any data or information.
Your Registration Obligations and Responsibilities as a Member.
In order to use this web site, we require you to register your request for membership.
